mymichele's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ode to friendship Friendships are hard to maintain sometimes. Sometimes, you'll have a few years of gaps when you wonder how that person could have possibly gone on to other things, without you. Perhaps you feel a little bitter, perhaps you even feel a little hate. But.. what you wouldn't give to have that person back in your life. I think it's important that people who came to your 13th birthday party came to your 23rd birthday party. I think it's important that person who introduced you to your first boyfriend,even though he dumped you the day before Valentines Day, asked you back out the next day, and then dumped you again a week later at the skating rink, still be in your life almost a decade later. I think it's important that you keep people around that know where you came from and can appreciate where you are right now. Yes, we didn't have the most healthy relationship as teenagers. Always competing, always comparing, always trying to get more than what we had. But that's what friendship is. Going through the ugliest times of life and then showing up again. Friendships are hard. But as time goes by, you realize how important a person can be to your life, and to your very existence. You realize how a person can shape the way you are today, and you realize that even as time goes by and your grip on your future is a little less stable without the person in your life who helped make it stable in the first place.
